Sell or Donate, Just Let It Go!

In my community, we are only allowed to have a garage/yard sale, once each year. I missed my chance to sell last year because I was about to have my baby. So, I could not miss my chance this year. I had just gotten off work from my graveyard shift at work and had to open my garage sale right after.
Almost everything that I had pulled out to sell I knew would not be going back into my garage after the sale was over, with a few exceptions. So, I pulled out almost half of my garage contents and started off pretty early in the morning with great success. I sold to almost every person who came by. One thing I told my customers was to disregard the price tags. I sold to more people that way. The most important thing to me was getting rid of the "stuff" I had. Better to get something out of it than to get nothing at the end of the day.
I made a big mistake at my sale. I was tired and forgot that my husband had told me a price for his new, extra surround sound system. He wanted $200 or to keep it. I sold it for $20. I saw it the same way I saw everything else. I thought we just wanted it gone. Most of the things I sold including that, we haven't used in over 5 years. I feel so bad still and I am so sorry. He wouldn't even take the $20 I got from it. I hope he'll see a bit of a positive outcome from this like extra space and the ability to downsize to a smaller storage unit.
On a better note, I made more money at my sale than I made on my first paycheck at work. Thank goodness because my whole first paycheck went to my friend for watching my child while I work. I'm still so happy that it turned out better than I hoped. The rest of the unsold items were boxed up for donation to goodwill. I was mobbed when I went to drop my stuff to off to donate. People just took whatever they wanted but at that point, I didn't care. It was already goodwill stuff to me. I'd rather my stuff go to someone in need than donate it to be sold.
Overall, I am so very happy about all the extra space. I cannot wait to work with what's left. I would love to try to find a home for what I can inside our place and downsize our garage to something really small or just throw the extra stuff inside our place regardless of the eye sore it would be. It would save us over a thousand dollars a year to get rid of our garage, so, that alone would be worth it.
If you need to downsize, I strongly encourage you to have a sale and donate whatever is dragging you down at the end. Let things go and set yourself free!
